Our Unique Video Training Format

Before designing our website, we spent a lot of time talking to people just like yourself to find out what type of training format they thought would be the most practical for learning and applying what they learn to their individual situation. The overwhelming responses were as follows:

  • There’s a lot of very good “Natural Horsemanship” trainers out there that can do some really amazing things with horses. They put on a great show at their road clinics, but when I get home and try to do a lot of their stuff, I can’t repeat what they do.
  • I have spent a lot of money on training tapes, but the two problems are: 1) Usually they are demonstrating on a fully trained horse, and everything works out fine, and 2) In a lot of cases their training programs are scattered, and it’s hard to put everything together in a logical training sequence.
  • Most programs focus specifically on the horse, and don’t give much help as far as the rider and rider mistakes.
  • Most of the famous trainers out there seem to be more interested in selling their signature line of products rather than seeing me achieve results and success.
  • You can spend a fortune buying training tapes from top trainers, and still not succeed.

We listened to all of you and have designed our program to hopefully address your concerns. But before we list the specifics of the program, remember the two things that set our program apart from most of the other programs out there. First off, Dave will be the first one to tell you that he is not even close to some of the best trainers out there as far as knowledge and ability. However, the step-by-step Training and Riding Pyramid he has developed is a proven method for helping non professionals achieve success with their horse human relationships. Secondly, using reality video to teach our program is a unique and effective approach. So now let’s give you the specifics:

  • If you have not done so, review the “Horse Sensible Program” tab. Our program is comprehensive and it’s step-by-step format is easy to understand. It gives you a roadmap to follow that is logical and will lead to your success.
  • Here’s our teaching format. Everything is based on our training pyramid. We have both the Instructional Pyramids and the Reality Video Productions. Here’s a brief description:

 Instructional Pyramids

  1. The Hard Copy Narrative: This pyramid has all of the written instruction for each level and training step of the pyramid. Simply download for your reading pleasure. If you prefer this information in hard copy, the books are available in our store for minimal cost. View availability and publish schedule.
  2. The Narrative Video Library: This pyramid has a video for each level of the pyramid. This is where Dave discusses each level and step in the pyramid.
  3. Quick Reference Instructional : This pyramid has a short video clip for each lesson of the pyramid that allows you to quickly review a lesson via your iphone while you are out training your horse.  This along with our pocket “Quick Reference Guide” allows you to follow and teach each lesson effectively.

 Reality Video Productions

  1. Tip of the Week: Produced weekly, Dave provides you with common sense tips to help you succeed.
  2. Four Horses and Four Nagalities: Produced weekly, we video the progress each of these horses have made as they advance up the pyramid. Dave makes use of guest trainers to show them how to execute the various steps they have been taught that previous week.
  3. House Calls: Produced monthly, we video an on-site visit to someone who is having a problem with their horse. We assist that person in correcting the situation, and do followup video to monitor their progress.
  4. Colt Starting: Produced weekly, we video the progress of a colt that we start as they progress up the pyramid. Guest trainers are used to execute the various steps they have been taught the previous week.
  5. HSH Horses in Training: Produced weekly, we video the progress of a horse – we are training for resale, as they progress up the pyramid.
  6. Outside Horses in Training: Produced weekly, we video the progress of a horse that has been brought in by the owner for training. Dave works with the owner or guest trainer to show them how to execute the various steps they have been taught that previous week.
  7. Specialty Trainer Series: Produced monthly, we video Dave working with a specialty trainer in the various disciplines such as cutting, reining, dressage, barrel racing, etc.
  8. HSH to the Rescue: Produced weekly, we video the progress of a horse purchased by Dave from a local sale barn. Since most of the horses going through this sale ultimately end up at the slaughter house, Dave brings the horse home, corrects any problems, and gives the horse a new start on life by finding the horse a new home with a capable and caring owner.
  9. Clinic Highlights: Highlights from Dave’s training clinic, which is held annually.
  10. Specialty Trainer Interview: Produced monthly, we video Dave talking to a specialty trainer.
  11. Weekend Warrior Interview: Produced monthly, we video Dave talking to every day horse enthusiasts.
  12. Miscellaneous Productions: Produced bi-monthly, Dave covers topics that have been requested by our members.
  13. Problem Solving: Produced Monthly, Dave covers the most common problems horse owners have with their horses.
  14. Desensitizing: Produced monthly, Dave takes you through a logical progression for desensitizing your horse
  15. Recommended Equipment: Produced in several phases, this video will take you through all of the equipment that Dave recommends and uses in his program.  Eventually all equipment will be available in our store, or we will provide links for you on equipment we do not carry directly

So that’s our plan for reality videos. If you click on the “Production Schedule Tab,” you can see when these videos will be produced and available for viewing. And remember, as videos are produced, they are archived, and can be accessed by our members at any time.

 OK, that pretty much covers it with just a couple of other comments:

  • We don’t focus on selling you product. We make available training aids that we recommend, and that’s it. And you know what, it’s a whole lot easier to turn on your computer and learn from reality training at its best.
  •  Always remember though, even though we give you the tools to succeed, you get out of anything what you put into it.
